Attention Theatre-Makers! We are now accepting director applications and play submissions for our 2017-2018 Mainstage Season. Please read thoroughly before you apply. All applications are due December 30, 2016.

For Directors Interested in a Specific Play:

You are encouraged to submit a proposal to direct a play of your choosing for the 2017-2018 mainstage season. It is unlikely that anyone will be appointed director for more than one show per season, but you may increase your chances and submit more than one show if you so desire. Applications will be evaluated based on each applicant’s theatre background/training, prior directorial experience, history of commitment/service to ACTC, motivation/enthusiasm, and show concept/vision. Understanding of Anam Cara’s mission, vision, and aesthetic is a must.

Please note that our mainstage shows will most likely happen at Toy Boat Community Art Space, which has limited lighting and scenic capabilities. Shows with casts of 10 or fewer are encouraged.

Your proposal must include the following:

-Your name and contact information
-Prior directorial experience and other relevant theatre experience, including work with ACTC (this may be presented via resume)
-The name of the show you are proposing and who holds the rights
-A brief description of the show and the cast requirements
-An explanation of how the show aligns with ACTC’s mission
-Your concept and vision for the show
-A brief overview of costume, set and technical requirements and any other major budget necessities
-A brief description of your directorial style
-Whether or not you are open to directing a play other than the one you are proposing

In short, include as many available details as possible about show requirements, your concept, and your approach to the production. Submissions should be 1-2 pages in length, and should include a relevant resume.

Anam Cara is an ensemble-driven theatre company, open to non-traditional plays and formats as well. If you are interested in devising a show, please describe your project, process, and experience with devising, in addition to answering the items listed above.

For Directors Open to Directing Any Play:

Applications will be evaluated based on each applicant’s theatre background/training, prior directorial experience, history of commitment/service to ACTC, motivation/enthusiasm, and fit with plays/projects chosen for the 2017-2018 season Understanding of Anam Cara’s mission, vision, and aesthetic is a must.

Your application must include the following:

-Your name and contact information
-Prior directorial experience and other relevant theatre experience, including work with ACTC (this may be presented via resume)
-A brief description of your directorial style
-An explanation of why you want to work with ACTC
-An explanation of the type of work/project/play that would be a good fit for you and why
In short, describe your approach to play or project, and the type of work/process you’re interested in. Submissions should be 1-2 pages in length, and should include a relevant resume.

Proposals are due no later than December 30, 2016, and emailed to erinn@anamcaratheatre.org.

For Playwrights:

Please attach your full script and include the following information in your email:

-Your name and contact information
-The name of the show you are proposing
-A brief synopsis of the show and the cast requirements

Strong priority will be given to those with completed scripts, but works in progress may be considered if scripts are near completion. Please note whether or not your script is absolutely complete, or if you are open to/interested in workshopping.
